The youngest person I know living his dream.
I didn't really believe it was possible to quit your job and make a living following your dream and actually working in your dream job.
Untill Luis Daniel my childhood friend, or Me dicen Danny (they call me Danny), his nickname that became his travelling business name, showed me it's possible.
The best way of pointing out to someone to change direction is inspiring them. Being dedicated to what you love and believe in yourself. I've always admired him for that, following his heart.
Our friendship goes 16 years back, since 4th grade when we met. Dani is one of my truest greatest friends.
I remember when we were kids he always had a crazy idea for a YouTube video, dragging me into playing silly games and making videos with him. Or the time he took me to a photoshoot when we were in highschool, at an abandoned farm with beautiful pine trees.
He always had the creativity in him.
Decided to quit his job at 25 persuing his dream to travel and film. Along the way he learned how to create content filming beautiful places in Costa Rica, captivating the attention of people making them want to travel and visit those places. And as for the past year, he even flew abroad to make videos about other cultures and amaizing places worth visiting.
It's been a year since he quit his job. Already travelled to Guatemala,Panama (Bocas del Toro), el Salvador, Colombia and Perú to document his travel and create videos to attract more people to visit those countries.
To celebrate his 26 birthday he invited me, my sister, her boyfriend and his friends from Costa Rica, Germany and Nicaragua. People he had met during his travels and they became great friends of his.
He couldn't have picked a more diverse and vibrant place to celebrate his life. The Carribeans of Costa Rica.
It takes 5 hours long to go by bus to Puerto Viejo from San Jose.
This time, my second time going to the Caribbean with Dani. We bought tickets for the next bus and waited for two hours just not to travel standing. It's a tough drive. We spent those 2 hours at a local cafe by the bus station catching up for old times sake. Since I haven't seen Dani in more than a year.
After 5 long hours we made it to Puerto Viejo. Where we met his friends Tracy and Justin.
For dinner we went to the best Authentic Carribean food restaurant in town "Cocomar".
Most of us ordered Rice and Beans with chicken in coconut sauce.
After that we went to hear reggae music by the beach. And headed to "Villas Rosibel" where we stayed for our visit to the Caribe.
The next day we went to Manzanillo wild refugee and saw white face monkeys and Sloth.
After that we continued to Punta Uva Beach, where we enjoyed the fresh waters and met more of Dani's friends. At the afternoon we returned to the villa to receive all of the friends he had invited for his birthday. Everyone brought something to eat, and we made a diverse meal.
The good vibes we're felt in the air, each and everyone of Dani's friends has a unique beautiful personality. Dani said: "bringing all of you together is like recruiting the avengers. My birthday was just an excuse to bring all of my kind of people together".
Dani's Birthday
We sat in a circle, introducing ourselves and how we met Dani. He spoke so highly of all of us, emphasizing the good cualities and talents he sees in us.
I will never forget his wise words that concluded the night: "Today is the start of something special for each and everyone of you. In days, a couple of month or a year you'll start to live a less comun and extraordinary life. Doing what you love".
Now I get it, it just takes courage and self belief to decide to make your dream a daily life.
